Pointing and brickwork

Years of weathering and the impact of the environment can damage pointing, so that dampness penetrates exterior walls and comes through on the inside. This can also cause frost damage.

Wall renovation not only involves making a wall look more attractive but also structurally renewing it. Specialist advice is essential.

When pointing is replaced, existing joints are raked or ground out. This requires high precision to avoid unnecessary damage to bricks. The work includes removing the joint right down to the sound mortar, so that none of the eroded mortar is left. The right type of joint and the right mortar or colour composition are important when choosing new pointing.
